The Journey

We are looking to get a bill passed in the Indian legislature to grant menstural leaves for women. In the discussion we realized that the taboo of periods in India would lead to women not asking for leaves during their menstural cycle.

#SheBleeds is a result of that discussion.

We are looking to initiate a dialogue in the country about periods. Break the myths and remove the taboo. In this we want men & women to use #SheBleeds and ask questions and thus initiate the conversation.

Why are we doing this.
Suffer from Dysmenorrhea

The technical term for extreme period pain. According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, the mentrual cramping is severe enough to interfere with daily activities.

Have no access to Sanitany Napkins

And the problem is compounded by the fact the issue is seen in villages, which lack facilities to treat disease and infections.

Suffer from Anemia

Because of heavy menstural bleeding. Taboo prevents discussion of mentural flow and women become pregnant without proper checkups. This severly affects the health of mother and child.
